Hi, I’m Zannah Roberts — I love stories where magic hides in the roots and shadows, and quiet girls carry the weight of prophecy (and maybe a knife or two). I’m drawn to tales of soft strength, found families, ancient myths, and the kind of courage that builds slowly but sticks.
My debut novel, Embermarked, started with a map a friend drew for me, a deep friendship I couldn’t stop thinking about, and a need to write something for the girls who sit quietly, not because they have nothing to say, but because they’re lost in their own head telling themselves stories about the world around them. The Dawnreach Trilogy grew from there.
When I’m not writing, I’m usually baking something to feed the people I love, reading books full of magic and heart, drinking very good (and very necessary) coffee, or planning my next adventure (or at least dreaming about it). I find inspiration in just about everyone, especially my girlfriends, who cheer me on, help me imagine what could be, and make everything feel possible.
I live in the Midwest with my sweetie, a dog named Birdie, and an absolute menace of a black cat named Pippa, who’s convinced she runs the house (she might).
